My Story
I am Ashleigh Jane McKenzie. My home, South Africa, has shaped who I am as a human and as a space holder. I've had the immense privilege of growing up among, and learning from, many different cultures.
As a physiotherapist, I've worked across a wide range of contexts - rural hospitals, schools, community care centers, clients' homes, private hospitals, and my own physiotherapy practice. That path gave me a broad understanding of the many different needs that live within spaces of learning, health, and wellbeing.
I've learned about joy and generosity from people who hold little material wealth. I've been reminded, again and again, of our deep need for connection as living beings, and of how much that connection is missing in our current times. I've learned about the systems of supremacy and oppression that continue to exploit vulnerable communities, and I've come to understand that we need to do things differently if we are ever going to create a world where all of us are free.
And I've learned that breath connects us all.
My Approach
The systems that govern our collective have forced us to forget — to forget our innate wholeness, our interconnectedness with all of life, our cyclical essence. My intention is to hold compassionate space for an unlearning of the patterns that uphold these systems, so that we might remember our true essence.
My offerings are informed by my background in physiotherapy. I guide my clients on a journey of remembering, through breath and embodiment, orienting them back to the power within, back to the remembrance of their own wholeness. Gently, layer by layer, we melt away old patterns of protection through soft exploration of breath and somatic practice.
As we unlearn limiting beliefs and internalized systems of harm, we liberate what was always there: our authentic selves, our authentic voice, our own medicine - for ourselves, and for the world.
