Who am I and what do I offer?
I am Ashleigh Jane Mckenzie. My home, South Africa has shaped who I am as a human and space holder. I have had the immense privilege of growing up amongst and learning from many different cultures. As a physiotherapist, I have worked in different contexts, including rural hospitals, schools, community care centers, clients homes, private hospital, my own physiotherapy practice. I have gained a broader understanding of different needs in the space of learning and in so called spaces of health and wellbeing. I have learnt about joy and generosity from people who have little material wealth. I have been reminded of our deep need for connection as living beings and the lack of this in our current times . I have learnt about the systems of supremacy and oppression that continue to exploit vulnerable communities. I have learnt that we need to do things differently if we are going to create a world where all of us are free. And I have learnt that the breath connects all.
The systems that govern our collective have forced us to forget. Forget our innate wholeness, our interconnectedness with all of life, our cyclical essence. My intention is to hold compassionate space for an unlearning of the patterns we have developed that uphold these systems, to remember our true essence.
My offerings are informed by my background in physiotherapy. I offer a journey of remembering through breath and embodiment, orientating my clients back to the power within, to the remembrance of their own wholeness. Gently melting away layers of protection through soft exploration of breath and somatic practices as we unlearn limiting beliefs, patterns of protection and internalized systems of harm, we liberate our authentic selves, our authentic voice, our own medicine for ourselves and for the world.
